Begley Properties LLC was created in 2000 to acquire land in Central, Southeastern and Eastern Kentucky. Today, it owns more than 4,000 acres of prime real estate situated near interstates and major highways. The land, which is suited to industrial, commercial and large-scale retail, is located in five areas: Richmond/Madison County, Hazard/Perry County, London/Laurel County, Knox County and Lexington/Fayette County.
Begley Properties is an outgrowth of other affiliates of the Begley family companies, which originated by acquiring properties that contained mineral interests and leasing them to oil, gas and coal companies for development. This successful strategy allowed the Begley family to amass royalties over a number of years before divesting of those properties. Much of that capital then was invested in the current holdings of Begley Properties, which is headquartered in London, Ky.
